‘Influential figures’ may consider selling Man United one of the world’s best players

While the Manchester United fans in the Transfer Tavern are used to a myriad of rumours and reports at this time of year, there’s one rumour that simply refuses to go away.

The Red Devils are seemingly linked with what would be a huge move for Real Madrid forward Gareth Bale every summer, despite his starring role for Los Blancos since joining in 2013.

So, it’s fair to say the United fans around the bar are seasoned enough to take any suggestions the Welshman could move with a pinch of salt.

Still, it’s been a strange season for the 27-year-old. Undoubtedly one of the finest players in the world, he’s struggled with injuries all year and the form of Isco provides Real boss Zinedine Zidane with a selection headache.

Indeed, reports from the Independent suggest there’s a slight feeling amongst the hierarchy in the Spanish capital that this is the right time to sell the former Spurs star.

Now, it must be said that the report does strongly state club president Florentino Perez remains a massive admirer of Bale, who could miss the Champions League final in his hometown of Cardiff with injury.

Still, ‘influential figures’ are said to believe this could be a natural time to part ways with the second most expensive player in history, much to the delight of our local United fans.
