The Manchester United fans in the Transfer Tavern are absolutely delighted following their 4-0 thumping of Everton yesterday.
Indeed, our resident Red Devils believe Jose Mourinho really can deliver a Premier League title to Old Trafford. Under his stewardship, the punters propping up our bar are enjoying life, as are his players it seems.
One of them, Marouane Fellaini is particularly enjoying life. So, reports from the Daily Mirror suggesting the Belgian was in talks over a new deal have barely come as a surprise.
They claim the club have tabled an ‘initial offer’ to the 29-year-old, who turns 30 in November, with the former Everton man previously linked with a move to the Galatasaray. While United reportedly tend to offer players over 30 a one-year deal, Fellaini is understood to be after a longer-term arrangement.
A divisive figure over the year, the United fans in our bar are warming to the idea of seeing Fellaini stick around, with the player obviously able to add a different dimension.
Fellaini is a very good option to bring on from the bench for United. As proved in the Europa League final win, he can certainly mix things up in certain games, to great effect.
Would be a smart move.
