Life’s not been great for the Manchester United fans in the Transfer Tavern this season, with Jose Mourinho yet to wholly convince them during his brief tenure in charge at Old Trafford thus far.
Winning a first Premier League title since the departure of Sir Alex Ferguson in 2013 is looking less and less likely, while some of their big stars continue to struggle to perform at their highest level often enough.
Still, one of the bright spots has undoubtedly been the curious case of Juan Mata.
Considering his somewhat chequered past with the self-proclaimed ‘Special One’, the Spaniard was largely written off over the summer and many punters in the Tavern expected him to be sold.
However, the two look to have buried the hatchet and the 28-year-old has been a regular in the playmaking berth, even ousting skipper Wayne Rooney from the starting lineup.
So, reports from the Sun have given our United supporting locals something to think about.
Mata’s father has been speaking to Turkish outlet Fanatik, suggesting the future remains unclear for the former Chelsea and Valencia midfielder, who has under two years left on his deal at the Theatre of Dreams.
“This season we have entered a new path with Mourinho”, said Juan sr. to Fanatik.
“However, at the end of the season we will sit down and evaluate our future more seriously.
“Fenerbahce one of the options? Why not?”
