As Jose Mourinho gears up for his second season in charge of Manchester United, the punters propping up the bar in the Transfer Tavern are eager to see him trim some of the fat from his squad.
Indeed, if the Red Devils are going to bring in more players, many of our resident Red Devils believe the self-proclaimed ‘Special One’ needs to clear decks while possible in order to make some room.
So then, our drinkers have been slightly annoyed by reports from Urugyuan journalist Julio Cesar Gard in regards to one of the fringe players at Old Trafford. Indeed, Guillermo Varela has been touted for a return to former club Penarol, though he claims the 24-year-old won’t be making a return to his native Uruguay.
Guillermo Varela, no jugará en Peñarol

Signed in the summer of 2013 by David Moyes, the defender has spent time on loan with Real Madrid Castilla as well as Eintracht Frankfurt, without ever really breaking the first-team, recent suggestions he could make a return to his former charges seem to be wide of the mark.
Selling Varela may be difficult as he enters the final years of his contract, so the fact he won’t be returning to his former club is a blow to United’s coffers.
Hopefully, for them, a deal can be agreed with another suitor.
