Manchester United fans in the Transfer Tavern are bracing themselves for a huge loss this summer, amidst reports of a stunning deal set to be placed on the table.
The Sun claims Spanish giants Real Madrid are ready to finally secure the services of David De Gea this summer and will launch a monstrous £60m bid this summer – which would shatter the current world-record fee paid for a goalkeeper.
Gianluigi Buffon currently holds the record for the most expensive goalkeeper transfer in history, following his £32m switch from Parma to Juventus in 2001, but that number is set to be dwarfed by De Gea’s summer switch.
Real Madrid are long-term admirers of De Gea and are desperate for the Spaniard to seal a move to the Spanish capital this summer, with a source stating:
“De Gea is the top priority. We expect him to come this summer.”
Zinedine Zidane’s side do have an alternative though, in the form of Chelsea stopper Thibaut Courtois, but our landlord believes this summer will finally be the window where De Gea leaves Old Trafford for the Santiago Bernabeu.
Our Manchester United supporting punters here inside the Football Transfer Tavern are certainly feeling very anxious after this latest transfer update, and feel that it would be a travesty if De Gea departed Old Trafford this summer.
