Liverpool and Man United enter scrap to land serial title winner on bargain free deal this summer

Martin Caceres

Manchester United and Liverpool will literally argue over just about anything, especially on a pint fuelled Friday night in the Transfer Tavern.

It’s a ridiculously intense rivalry, made even more so following reports from Italian outlet Tuttomercatoweb.com the pair will go head-to-head in order to land Juventus defender Martin Caceres this summer.

The Uruguayan is expected to leave the Old Lady upon the expiration of his deal after a trophy laden spell in Turin, representing a potential bargain signing for a player of his experience.

Still only 29, the former Barcelona defender has won La Liga, Champions League and Cop America titles, as well as five Serie A trophies on the bounce.

With both North West giants on the lookout for defensive reinforcements, they will reportedly go up against the likes of Inter Milan and Roma to land him.

Liverpool, particularly, have struggled to plug gaps in their backline and have conceded the most goals in the top eight this season.

United meanwhile, have seen a lack of strength and depth come back to bite them this season as their defence has been decimated by numerous injuries.

How good is Caceres? Is he worth all the titles he’s won? Could he sort out Liverpool’s defence?
