LVG favourite reportedly eyed for transfer after falling down Man United pecking order

Our Manchester resident United supporters in the Transfer Tavern won’t be too disappointed if this transfer is completed, such is the nature of their squad under Jose Mourinho right now.

According to Italian outlet Tuttosport, via the Daily Express, AC Milan are targeting Manchester United midfielder Ander Herrera, and they hope to conclude a deal for the Spaniard in the summer transfer window.

The 28-year-old joined United in 2014, and the former Bilbao man has amassed 151 appearances for the Red Devils, scoring a decent total of 16 goals. However, the arrival of Nemanja Matic has significantly reduced his involvement in the United setup, and a move to the Italian giants could ensure consistent first-team football for the Spanish midfielder.

It is reported that AC Milan have sent their scouts to watch Ander Herrera play and to monitor his progress in Jose Mourinho’s team. While the Spaniard proved an important figure under Louis van Gaal and up until last year, it seems United have moved on under the self-proclaimed ‘Special One’ this season.

Landlord’s verdict

While considering his current status at United, a summer departure does seem probable. Surely if a big fee were offered, United would be more than happy to allow Herrera to leave the club, as long as they acquire an adequate replacement. He’s been a good servant, though is certainly replaceable.
