Jose Mourinho’s overhaul at Old Trafford was always likely to have more than a few victims of a squad that so often disappointed under Louis van Gaal.
According to ESPN, one of the first names to fall foul to the Portuguese’s cull is that of Uruguayan full-back’s, Guillermo Varela.
The 23-year old was thrust into the first-team under van Gaal last term amid an injury crisis and proved relatively impressive, though is not thought to be in Mourinho’s first-team plans.
As a result, he is understood to be close to a loan move to Bundesliga outfit Frankfurt, with a deal all agreed between the two parties.
Now, he will travel to Germany in order to apply the finishing touches on his move to Die Adler.
