Our Manchester United fans here in the Transfer Tavern are feeling good once again and that looks set to be bolstered with the news coming out of Sky Sports News HQ on Twitter.
That is because the outlet is reporting that United have held initial talks with Portuguese club Benfica over a £38 million move for Swedish international defender Victor Lindelof.
The young centre half has earned himself a pretty decent reputation this season for the Lisbon based side and that now appears to have attracted concrete interest from the Old Trafford club, as Jose Mourinho looks to improve his team.

The Premier League club are currently outside the top four but are still in the race for those spots thanks to better performances in recent weeks and so 2017 could be a pretty successful year for the club – starting with Lindelof.
United already have one exciting young defender in Eric Bailly, whilst Phil Jones and Chris Smalling also have their merits, so the club could be set for one of their most impressive defences for some time.
Our landlord agrees, too, and thinks the signing of Lindelof could mark a new, successful period at the club over the coming years.
