Man United boss handed funds to smash world record, Mourinho confident on statement signing

While Euro 2016 is clicking into gear, there’s little doubt that what makes the Transfer Tavern the lively venue it has become so famous for, are debates over blockbuster rumours and reports.

Well, they don’t come much bigger than this.

According to the Manchester Evening News, Jose Mourinho WILL be afforded funds to smash the world transfer record (currently set at about £86m when Gareth Bale moved from Tottenham to Real Madrid) and is confident of landing a statement signing.

The Portuguese is believed to be keen on Paul Pogba, a former product of their academy, though is wary of intense competition from the likes of Real Madrid.

A move for Zlatan Ibrahimovic could be sewn up imminently after Sweden’s exit from Euro 2016 in the group stage, while he has already landed the £30m signing of Villarreal defender Eric Bailly.

It is understood he is chasing three more signings, that include a winger, a striker and a central midfielder as he plots his first season in charge at the Theatre of Dreams.

Will Mourinho win the league in his first season at Old Trafford?
