Louis van Gaal is prepared to hang onto Marouane Fellaini following the Belgian’s impressive recent showings in the Manchester United first-team, according to reports from the Daily Star.
The rangy midfielder has been thrust back into the Red Devils’ set-up for their last two games against West Brom and Chelsea, scoring a vital goal away to the Baggies and playing a big role in Robin van Persie’s late equaliser at home to the league leaders.
These displays are understood to have swayed Van Gaal’s opinion of the former Everton star, whom he attempted to offload over the summer.
Fellaini was expected to complete a loan move to Napoli shortly before the last transfer deadline, however injury problems prevented the deal from going through.
Since then a January exit has been mooted, but LVG is now ready to keep the big-haired midfielder.
The 26-year-old has widely been described as a ‘flop’ signing, with his displays last term under David Moyes following his £27.5m move having been below par.
Despite a difficult year and a bit, Fellaini himself is thought to be happy at United.
