Man United contract ‘expected’ after mammoth reported offer (not Jones)

Life is pretty good amongst the Manchester United fans in the Transfer Tavern right now, despite the dull draw at Anfield over the course of the weekend. Indeed, our resident Red Devils believe this is the best chance the Old Trafford giants have at winning a Premier League title since the retirement of Sir Alex Ferguson in 2013.

In fact, things are going so well at the Theatre of Dreams of late that some huge money offers are being snubbed in favour of staying at the club. According to the Sun, Juan Mata rejected a mammoth £375k-p/w offer from the Chinese Super League in order to remain at United for the long-term.

He’s understood to have been offered the sum while visiting the Soccerex convention last month, though reportedly snubbed the move as he wants to extend his Old Trafford deal beyond the course of the next 12 months. A number of clubs from the Far East are said to be keen on the player, though Man United are said to be ‘expected’ to take up the option of giving him another deal.

Landlord’s Verdict:

It’s amazing to see how well Mata is doing in a team completely different to any of the skillset he has. While not many gave the World Cup-winner a chance upon Jose Mourinho’s arrival at the club, the former Chelsea man is proving an important member of the team.

Too good to lose.
