While the punters in the Transfer Tavern barely readily associate Jose Mourinho and burgeoning young talents, the Manchester United supporters parked up at the bar are begging he’s changed his ways.
With the Red Devils having such a proud history of academy graduates becoming genuine first-team stars, they are cautious following reports from the Sun.
Though the notion of welcoming the promising Cameron Borthwick-Jackson back from his loan spell at Wolves would usually be a good thing, the Old Trafford faithful are wary he won’t get many games back there.
To be fair, Mourinho has played both Jesse Lingard and Marcus Rashford rather frequently, though neither are nailed-on starters.
Under Louis van Gaal, CBJ was handed a chance in the first-team due to an injury crisis and proved impressive despite his lack of experience.
So much so in fact, that the 19-year-old was awarded a four-year deal at the Theatre of Dreams back in May before being loaned out to the Midlands side.
Still, he’s not been picked much under new boss Paul Lambert, who has hinted the defender could make a move back to his parent club in the New Year.
“Come January, [sporting director] Kevin Thelwell and myself will start to get the squad we think can help”, said the Scot.
“There’s been no official decision on Cameron and won’t be for another few weeks.”
