The Manchester United fans in the Transfer Tavern are always eager to see their club bring in more players, no matter how well things are going.
Indeed, our resident Red Devils never like missing out on good players, so reports from the Sun have seriously annoyed our punters.
They claim United are losing out to big rivals Manchester City in a reported pursuit of England U21 star, Jack Harrison. The winger has hit headlines over across the pond with his performances for New York City FC, earning a call-up to Aidy Boothroyd’s Young Lions.
City are believed to have first refusal on the player as the MLS side form part of City’s footballing group, much to the annoyance of our United-mad punters. Harrison actually came through the Red Devils’ academy, reportedly alongside the likes of Marcus Rashford, before moving over to the States when he was 14.
While he may not have much of a chance right now, the idea of City landing a young and English talent over them has seriously annoyed the Man United fans in our bar.
A young and English player tearing up another league is always likely to attract the interest of big clubs. The mere marketing possibilities around a player to have spent time in the MLS would be hugely exciting to top brass, though City’s footballing group look like being the lucky ones.
