Fresh from their FA Cup success, the Manchester United fans in the Transfer Tavern have been handed another major boost. Delight has erupted in our famous four walls.

That's because, according to Duncan Castles at ONE World Sports, Jose Mourinho will discuss a three-year deal to takeover at the club on Tuesday,

The Portuguese has been strongly linked with a move to Old Trafford for a number of months, though speculation has ramped up recently after the FA Cup final win over Crystal Palace.

It is claimed the 53-year old will meet with Ed Woodward early next week to run through a contract to replace Louis van Gaal, who will reportedly be relieved of his duties.

Though the Dutchman secured the first major piece of silverware since the retirement of Sir Alex Ferguson, he has largely proved unpopular during his two year reign in charge of the Red Devils.

Mourinho has also been linked with jobs at Paris Saint-Germain, Everton and Real Madrid, though is thoughtto have been holding out for the post at the Theatre of Dreams.

Long-term assistant Rui Faria is understood to be on the verge of joining him, as well as goalkeeping coach Silvino Louro, meaning there will be more changes to the backroom staff.
