Man United eye £50m defender, Mourinho ‘exploring possibility’ of pipping Guardiola (not Stones)

You’d be forgiven for thinking the transfer window’s buck stops with Paul Pogba, such is the intense nature of coverage of his proposed move to Manchester United.

However, knowing Jose Mourinho’s antics as we do in the Transfer Tavern, the self-proclaimed ‘Special One’ looks unlikely to stop there.

According to the Manchester United Evening News, the 53-year old is ‘exploring the possibility’ of making a SECOND raid on Juventus, this time for illustrious defender Leonardo Bonucci.

The Italian has been strongly linked with a £50m move to Manchester City, though the Portuguese is said to have identified the Italian as an ideal leader in his burgeoning backline.

However, with Pogba’s move looking increasingly likely, the Red Devils’ ability to prize another top star away from Turin would surely be scuppered.

Still, the Old Lady did sign Mehdi Benatia from Bayern Munich, perhaps as a replacement for the 29-year old.

Antonio Conte of Chelsea, who enjoys a good relationship with the Azzurri rock, is also believed to be interested.

Would Bonucci be enough to win either United/City/Chelsea the league? Let us know below…
