Man United facing three way transfer tussle to land lethal marksman this summer

Mario Gomez

Almost as refreshing as a Transfer Tavern pint for the Manchester Untied supporting locals in this evening is a potential signing that doesn’t appear to hinge on the arrival of Jose Mourinho.

Reports from Turkish outlet Fanatik, via the Daily Express, claim the Red Devils are keen on making a move for Besiktas loan star Mario Gomez after the German once again found his form with the club.

Once regarded as one of the most clinical marksman in Europe, the 30-year old was a serial title winner while with Bayern Munich and a major part of their treble success prior to joining Fiorentina.

He’s earned his way back into the German squad ahead of Euro 2016 after pipping Samuel Eto’o to the top scorer award in Turkey by notching an impressive 27 goals.

Besiktas are believed to want to make the deal a permanent one, while both the Red Devils and Bundesliga outfit Wolfsburg are understood to be keen on a summer deal.

Would Gomez fit in at Manchester United?
