Manchester United fans in the Tavern have comically hit back at Louis Van Gaal, who recently claimed that football is the second priority behind money at Manchester United. The 66-year-old Dutchman criticised his former employers and spoke of how things are different at Bayern Munich, where the owners are former players and the most important part is the football.
QUOTE: Louis Van Gaal on Man United:
“They are a commercial club….
Totally different to Bayern. The bosses, like Karl Heinz Rummenigge and Uli Hoeness are former players.
Football is the most important thing, not money…like it is at United.” pic.twitter.com/R7BEcP66HV

Van Gaal joined Manchester United after guiding the Netherlands to a third-place World Cup finish back in 2014, however just over two years later he was sacked leading to the appointment of Jose Mourinho at Old Trafford. During the former Ajax, Barcelona and Bayern Munich manager’s reign, United were accused of playing boring football and being uninspiring on the pitch, despite winning the FA Cup in LVG’s second and final season in England.
In Van Gaal’s 26 years as a manager, barring a five-game stint in charge of the Netherlands U20 side in 2001, his 103 games as Manchester United boss wielded his worst points per game ratio LVG won an average of 1.81 points for every game he was in charge. However whilst the Dutchman was in charge of Bayern Munich between 2009-11 he boasted an average points per game of 2.03 and won the Bundesliga and German cup in the 2009-10 season.
Here’s the Manchester United fans savage reactions!
