With the Manchester United fans in the Transfer Tavern hoping Jose Mourinho continues to splash the cash this summer, reports from the Irish Independent have gone down a storm today.
According to the report, the Red Devils are edging ever closer to the €98m signing of Antoine Griezmann, with the Frenchman recently revealing he’s got a 6/10 chance of playing for the club next season.
United are thought to have discussed the framework of the money-spinning transfer from Atletico Madrid over the last few months with a host of third-party representatives.
The Frenchman’s friendship with compatriot Paul Pogba is understood to have played a role in the forward’s openness to joining the Red Devils.
At a reported €98m, the deal would cost around £84m, falling just short of the world record sum splashed out on Pogba last summer.
As you can imagine, the idea of welcoming one of the best players in the world to the Theatre of Dreams next season has delighted our resident Red Devils.
