Man United handed potential boost in forward chase with groundwork over deal beginning

Hopeful of continuing their strong run of form against Stoke City this weekend, the Manchester United fans in the Transfer Tavern are waxing poetic about life at Old Trafford once more, with Jose Mourinho looking as if he is the man to restore some entertainment to the club.

As much excitement as there is around things on the pitch, the Red Devils propping up the bar are also discussing what mega-star they could potentially sign next summer, as they enjoy being named the richest club in the world once more. Having watched their club break all kinds of records to land Paul Pogba, reports from the Telegraph have gone down a storm amongst them.

They claim the club ARE working on a deal to bring Atletico Madrid forward Antoine Griezmann to the Theatre of Dreams after Mourinho reportedly identified the Frenchman as a leading target. The club are said to be laying the groundwork ahead of a move that could potentially cost around €100m for the 25-year-old.

While the forward is undoubtedly one of the star players at the Vicente Calderon, the fact manager Diego Simeone could leave the side he led to the La Liga title in 2014 is understood to have a major impact on whether the Les Blues ace joins best friend Pogba in England.

Furthermore, Los Rojiblancos are due to move into a new stadium and the sale of a major player is believed to be on the cards to offset moving costs.

This is music to the ears of the United fans in the Tavern today, dreaming of Griezmann partnering Zlatan Ibrahimovic up front.

Just how big a signing could Griezmann be? Let us know below…
