Man United in transfer talks over £50m pair as January looms

As the Manchester United fans in the Transfer Tavern eagerly await their next Europa League outing, they’ve been discussing reports emerging from the Scottish Sun

With such an unbalanced squad at hand right now, Jose Mourinho could reportedly lose two of its members in January after fresh transfer talks were apparently held last weekend.

According to the report, boardroom discussions took place at Goodison Park as United drew 1-1 in another frustrating game for the self-proclaimed ‘Special One’.

The Toffees are understood to be keen on both Memphis Depay and Morgan Schneiderlin, with both said to be available.

Since moving to Old Trafford in the summer of 2015, the pair have struggled for game time despite strong performances at their previous clubs earning them big money moves in the first place.

Louis van Gaal splashed out around £50m to bring the duo to the Theatre of Dreams last year, though neither has worked out as hoped.

Everton chief Ronald Koeman is said to have made compatriot Depay his priority and is believed to have around £60m to spend in the New Year sales.

The Dutch international is reported to have attracted interest from Roma and could well be available on loan.

Koeman worked with Schneiderlin at Southampton and is reportedly frustrated at his lack of game time.
