The Manchester United supporting locals in the Transfer Tavern are really getting a sense as to just how ruthless Jose Mourinho truly is.
After watching the self-proclaimed ‘Special One’ axe World Cup winning midfield legend Bastian Schweinsteiger from the squad, reports from the Sun have only added to that.
They claim that Wayne Rooney will NOT be offered a new deal at Old Trafford for at least 18 months, having to prove himself in the process.
Despite closing in on their record goal scoring tally, the 30-year old has been under intense scrutiny in recent months after a poor European Championships with England.
Even at club level, Rooney has attracted criticism in recent years after seemingly losing his pace and tenacity.
Under contract until 2019, the former Everton prodigy has reportedly been told by top brass at the Theatre of Dreams to prove he would be worth a new deal.
”Rooney is ready to end his playing days at United”, said a club insider.
‘He is presently contracted until the summer of 2019, but nothing is in the pipeline.
‘It will be at least another 16 to 18 months or so before they even make a further look on an extension on that.’
Is there any hope at all of Rooney getting back to his best? Let us know below…
