With Liverpool vs Manchester United last night really failing to excite anyone in the Transfer Tavern at all, talk has reverted to jokes and jibes between the two.
Though the meeting at Anfield proved to be a rather damp squib in the end, there’s little doubt the North West rivalry is amongst the most fierce in world football.
So, it’s not overly surprising when former players from both sides aim digs at the other club.
That’s been no different for United legend Gary Neville, who has poked fun at the state of modern football fans.
In reference to the Red Devils’ 1993 trip to Istanbul to play Galatasaray, the former England man tweeted a photo of the Kop faithful taking photos of Jose Mourinho.
While that night in Turkey was one of the most hostile atmospheres in European football, the ‘Special One’ looked more like an attraction than anything on Merseyside last night.
