The Manchester United fans here in the Transfer Tavern still aren’t over their side’s hugely disappointing loss against Tottenham Hotspur during midweek and believe yet another major summer overhaul is required.
Indeed, though millions upon millions have been spent on trying to restore former glories at Old Trafford, the Red Devils are quite clearly off the pace in the Premier League and Paul Pogba’s awful showing in central midfield at Wembley hinted at the need for new options in that area.
Well, according to Bleacher Report, United are planning to make moves in the summer in order to help sort their engine room out. Interestingly enough, the report claims there is ‘uncertainty’ about whether or not Ander Herrea will remain at the club beyond the imminent summer window.
The Spaniard has largely had to sit on the bench this season in order to accommodate for the Nemanja Matic-Paul Pogba axis, despite hugely impressing under Louis van Gaal, as well as Mourinho last season. However, it seems the former Atletico Bilbao man may be part of a United cull in just a few months.
It’s a shame for Herrera, should he leave. He looked to be the beating box-to-box midfielder United needed for so many years upon his initial arrival, though he and the direction of the club look to be on different paths. Unlikely to be short of suitors, it’ll be interesting to see what happens.
