With the Manchester United fans in the Transfer Tavern delighted about their start to the season, there’s not much that can dampen their spirits right now.
Indeed, our resident Red Devils believe Jose Mourinho has sufficiently whipped his side into shape ahead of what looks to be a closely-run title race, much to the delight of our United-mad punters.
Still, reports from the Sun have proven rather unwelcome.
They claim top brass at Old Trafford fear England U21 starlet Dean Henderson could be tempted away from the club, as the likes of Arsenal and Benfica eye a move for the custodian. Currently on loan with Shrewsbury Town, the 20-year-old is earning rave reviews at New Meadow and is out of contract next summer.
As a result, there are said to be prying eyes in regards to his current situation with United and it’s claimed that the player himself does not want to go back to playing youth team football.
United know just how long it can take to find a top class ‘keeper. Having struggled to replace Peter Schmeichel and then Edwin van der Sar over the years, they need to ensure David De Gea (though he should be around for a while) has a suitable successor.
Losing Henderson would not be a good thing.
