Manchester United fans in the Transfer Tavern have been discussing the potential consequences of a first-team sale, amidst reports a move is edging closer.
The Italian international, who grew up near Milan, has struggled to impress following his arrival in 2015, boasting 38 league appearances; ten of which have come this season.
A source close to Darmian has revealed the player’s desire to seal a return to Italian football, with reports quoting him as saying:
“Matteo is looking for a place in Milan. He has contacted an estate agent in the city. He is looking for a spacious apartment in a very nice area. His girlfriend will pick the house.”
“It cannot be coincidence that he is looking for a new house. Inter Milan have been after him for a while. He is from a small town near Milan. The couple are passionate about interior design and have fixed-up places in the past.”
However, Darmian’s exit may not be able to go ahead before the close of the transfer window next Tuesday as Inter are struggling to get former Newcastle United man Davide Santon off their books.
Our landlord believes the Italian will leave the club but can’t see a move being completed in this window.
The Red Devils by the bar here in the Transfer Tavern admit they have grown fond of Darmian, and think he’s a player that has a bright future at Old Trafford.
