Manchester United and Jose Mourinho will hope to put summer uncertainty behind them and focus on having a successful Premier League campaign.
The Red Devils have been written off by many because of rivals Liverpool and Man City. Those two have spent a considerable amount over the last few seasons and because of that, on paper, have a much superior team to Manchester United.
Despite spending big on two players this summer, United have been criticised for not buying enough, leaving their title bid in doubt already at this early stage.
Not recruiting a centre-back in particular already seems to be a bad move and one that must be quickly rectified.
A big improvement needs to be made in the January transfer market, because of their inability at times to defend properly. Injuries and bad form have got in the way of United being successful and that has to be resolved by signing Koulibaly to sure up their fragile defensive back-line.
The 27-year-old has been a regular for Napoli over the years, earning the reputation as one of the better defenders in world football. His pace and physical presence is scary for any opponent to try and get around, often meaning that Koulibaly and Napoli are solid defensively.
His quality is shown by his valuation on Transfermarkt, (£54 million) and it would be agreed that Koulibaly has the ability alone to tighten United’s defensive frailties.
As well as defensively improving United, Koulibaly isn’t afraid of pushing up and scoring goals of his own. Last season in 35 Serie A appearances, the Senegalese international popped up with 5 goals, an impressive amount for a centre-back.
He played a further 10 games in all competitions, showing that also stamina isn’t an issue either.
With little to be concerned about, Koulibaly simply has to be the big centre-back Manchester United to all out to sign this January.
Do you agree that Koulibaly is the man for United… Let us know!
