Man United officials reportedly keen on ‘money-spinning’ idea, Mourinho not too convinced

The Manchester United fans in the Transfer Tavern are desperately hoping Jose Mourinho can produce his usual second season magic at the club, having won the title at that point most of his other teams.

Indeed, the Red Devils’ pre-season outings proved rather promising and many of the punters propping up the bar are desperately hoping the self-proclaimed ‘Special One’ can restore former glories to Old Trafford at long last.

Still, it’s not all happy families at the Theatre of Dreams. According to the Sun, the Portuguese is on a collision course with top brass at United over the location of their next pre-season tour.

While there’s still an awful lot of football to be played between now and then, those behind the scenes in Manchester are understood to want to take the team to China, though Mourinho and his staff are believed to fancy a return to America.

United went to the Far East last summer and saw a friendly with Manchester City called off after a downpour and the coaching staff are not reportedly keen on a return.

They are thought to have been impressed by the facilities over in America, training at UCLA for most of their schedule, while the club are said to have sounded out potential entry to the ‘money-spinning’ International Champions Cup next season.

As long as the team are happy, our punters just hope it’s sorted soon.

Landlord’s Verdict:

Mourinho’s decisions in pre-season during his third season with Chelsea is widely thought to have been one of the reasons his team started so slowly, so it’s important the club come to an agreement with him next term.

They looked good out in America, so it’ll be interesting to see if they return.
