Fresh from their monumental summer expenditure, the Manchester United fans in the Transfer Tavern are licking their wounds over the Derby Day defeat.
While the transfer window has slammed shut, the nature of the Red Devils’ blockbuster summer has the Old Trafford goers chomping at the bit for further rumours and reports.
Well, according to Spanish outlet Marca (via the Manchester Evening News), Jose Mourinho is ALREADY casting his eyes over more reinforcements.
They claim the self-proclaimed ‘Special One’ is keen on Real Madrid star Pepe as he looks to bolster his defensive ranks.
With Daley Blind struggling in the Manchester derby and Eric Bailly’s relative inexperience, the 33-year-old is said to have attracted his attention.
Managed by Mourinho during their time together at Real Madrid, the emergence of Raphael Varane could see him eventually usurped by the classy Frenchman.
The former Porto man is out of contract in the Spanish capital next summer, though the transfer ban imposed on the Champions League winners could complicate matters.
Will we finally see Pepe back in the Premier League? Let us know below…
