Man United ready to raise star’s wages to fend-off summer interest

Manchester United fans in the Transfer Tavern have raised a glass in celebration following the latest reports they’ve read, which suggest a major move will be taken to keep a star at the club.

David de Gea continues to attract interest from Real Madrid, who famously saw a deal for the Spanish goalkeeper fall through in the dying moments of the 2015 summer transfer window, and Zinedine Zidane’s side are ready to try again this summer.

However, whilst United were previously open to doing a deal two-years ago, the Red Devils are determined to keep their star-goalkeeper at Old Trafford and The Sun states they’re ready to raise his wages beyond his current deal of £200k-a-week.

This comes amidst claims from Spanish radio station Onda Cerowho stated that Jose Mourinho’s side were willing to do a deal this summer.

Raising De Gea’s wages would see Real Madrid blown out of the water in a similar scenario to what Los Blancos endured last summer with Paul Pogba, as the Premier League side used their financial muscles to offer a deal their Spanish counterparts couldn’t match.

Our landlord reckons Real Madrid could change their approach this summer though, as they’ll be determined not to miss out on further big names.

Will De Gea stay at Manchester United this summer? Let us know in the comments below!
