Manchester United fans in the Transfer Tavern have gathered around the bar to hear the whispers of latest news, which suggest a returning face is coming to Old Trafford.
ESPN reports Jose Mourinho has activated a clause in Cameron Borthwick-Jackson’s loan with Wolves that will see the young full-back return to Old Trafford this month, after the Portuguese boss grew frustrated with his lack of opportunities with the Championship side.
The 19-year-old made 14 senior appearances for United under the guidance of Louis van Gaal last term but has barely featured at Molineux since Paul Lambert took charge, throwing a spanner in the works of the youngster’s development.
A return to Manchester United could give Borthwick-Jackson better fortune as he can compete for the left-back spot at the club, with Luke Shaw struggling for fitness and it isn’t Daley Blind’s natural position.
Being a natural left-footed player and possessing a lot of pace, Borthwick-Jackson certainly could push into the first-team fold at Manchester United during the second-half of the season but our landlord reckons he’ll be sent out on-loan again.
Should Mourinho utilise Borthwick-Jackson in the first-team? Let us know in the comments below!
