Man United reportedly on red alert as speculation about big move continues

It really won’t go away.

Indeed, the Manchester United fans in the Transfer Tavern constantly watch their side touted as a potential landing spot for Real Madrid superstar Gareth Bale and talk has certainly been intensified following Los Blancos’ reported chase of Kylian Mbappe.

Now, while our resident Red Devils know to take any suggestions they could seriously land the Welshman with a pinch of salt, reports from the Daily Telegraph have certainly proved rather interesting.

They claim United have been given hope that the 28-year-old could be available and are reportedly duly on red alert. Should Mbappe arrive in the Spanish capital – in what looks as if it would be a world-record deal – Bale is said to be the most expendable member of Real’s front line.

Spanish international Isco impressed towards the end of last season and was handed a starting berth in the Champions League final, while young Marco Asensio has come on leaps and bounds of late.

Zinedine Zidane recently refused to rule out any exit this summer, while Jose Mourinho was spotted joking with the former Tottenham Hotspur forward prior to a pre-season friendly between the two.

As you can imagine, the idea of seeing Bale return to the Premier League has tongues talking in the Tavern.

Landlord’s Verdict

Bale would surely make United title favourites. His signing would be a huge statement of intent for a side looking to restore former glories and perhaps this summer represents a natural time to end his Spanish adventure.

With Mbappe looking like the future and the continued excellence of a certain Cristiano Ronaldo, the 28-year-old could look to finally become the main man elsewhere. Having won all there is to win with Madrid, perhaps it really could happen.
