Having watched their side spend big money on Romelu Lukaku and Victor Lindelof already this summer, the Manchester United fans in the Transfer Tavern are eager to see the squad strengthened further.
Still, the Nerazzurri are reportedly asking for around £50m for the Croatian winger and our resident Red Devils really aren’t sure he’s worth it. Which is exactly why reports emanating out of Italy have proved so interesting.
According to Calciomercato, the self-proclaimed ‘Special One’ is ready to turn his attentions to RB Leipzig star, Emil Forsberg. One of the most exciting wide forwards in Europe last season, the 25-year-old impressed in the Bundesliga.
He notched 8 goals and recorded a further 19 assists for Leipzig and the Portuguese tactician is understood to have considered turning his gaze towards the Swedish star. United could reportedly make a €50m – roughly £44.6m -bid for the player, as an alternative to Perisic.
While it’s a lot of money to part with, the idea of bringing an assist-machine to Old Trafford has excited our United-mad punters.
Though Perisic has much more experience at a high level, Forsberg is a younger and more exciting option, perhaps a wiser investment for the Red Devils.
The Swedish international could help form a truly varied frontline at the Theatre of Dreams, as well as lay on goals aplenty for £75m man Romelu Lukaku. Indeed, the 25-year-old seems tailor-made to play off a big man and the pair could thrive together.
