With sensational developments emerging almost by the minute at Old Trafford, we’ve forgiven the Manchester United supporting punters in the Transfer Tavern for being on the proverbial cloud nine.
Well, that was until a certain Zlatan Ibrahimovic hinted he could snub the Red Devils and make a sensational return to boyhood club Malmo this summer.
The superstar Swede has been strongly linked with a move to Old Trafford over the last few months after opting to leave Paris Saint-Germain after a glittering four year stint in the French capital.
Having worked with new United chief Jose Mourinho to great success while with Inter Milan, the 34-year old has emerged as a stunning target for the self-proclaimed ‘Special One’ as he plots a major overhaul at the Theatre of Dreams.
However, the former Barcelona forward has hinted that he could make an emotional return to the club where he started his journey as he enters the closing stages of an illustrious playing career.
“I love Malmö and I wish I could play today. I apologise for that, but I will, I will. Just wait for me”, he said in a press conference ahead of Euro 2016 (quotes sourced by the Sun.)
He made his debut for the club in 1996 and has since gone on to win titles all around Europe.
Will we really see Zlatan in the Premier League next season?
