Manchester United may have put one over on rivals Manchester City in the recent derby, but you’d never have guessed it if you were to pop into the Transfer Tavern this evening.
That’s because the Red Devils faithful in tonight have been somewhat hushed following reports from Tribal Football’s Emanuele Giulianelli that Barcelona pass master Sergio Busquets favours a move to the Etihad over Old Trafford.
The two worked together to great success during their time together and the Camp Nou and it is said City have tabled a contract worth €9.5m a year in order to lure him to England.
He is understood to have had undergone a dispute with the Catalan giants in regards to a new deal with them, with Giulianelli suggesting the player has ‘no intention’ of signing one on current terms.
Previously, the Spaniard has spoken of his admiration for Guardiola and revealed openly his willingness to work with the 45-year old again.
Widely regarded to be the best defensive midfielder in the game, the World Cup winner would be a monumental signing for City as they look to push on within European football.
Already through to the semi-finals of this year’s Champions League, the Guardiola era is likely to see more and more elite players linked with the club.
Would Busquets be City’s biggest signing ever, in a non commercial sense?
