Much of the talk in regard to Manchester United’s transfer activity this summer centres around potential big name (ridiculously expensive recruits) in the Transfer Tavern.
The England international has been one of few bright sparks this season, emerging as perhaps the best homegrown centre-half in the league after a slow start to his Old Trafford career.
To that end, the Hammers could offer £20m for the 26-year old in an effort to bring him back to London, having previously played for Fulham.
No doubt, it will be a difficult task to prize him away from the Theatre of Dreams, though the East London outfit believe their upward trajectory under manager Slaven Bilic and move to a new stadium can help them attract players of his calibre.
