While many expected Reece Oxford to perhaps have a much larger impact this season following a stunning debut on the opening day against Arsenal, his under the radar development is a testament to how well managed he has been at West Ham.
However, much to the chagrin of the Hammers in the Transfer Tavern tonight, it appears the under the radar approach hasn’t completely fooled everybody.
According to Club Call, Manchester United had scouts in attendance to run the rule over the highly rated 17-year old as he strutted his stuff in the club’s Under-21 clash with Hull City.
The Red Devils are also believed to have been casting an eye over teammate Martin Samuelsen, with the versatile midfielder having impressed on loan at Peterborough.
Much of the talk surrounding United’s transfer activity this summer has centred around blockbuster potential arrivals, though the club have tended to look towards younger recruits as well.
Anthony Martial arrived last summer, with Benfica starlet Renato Sanches is widely tipped to join the club over the next few months or so.
Will United’s intense drive for youth recruitment pay off in the end?
