Man United scouts wowed by South American starlet, transfer could cost £43.3m

South America is always seen as the place to go for talented young footballers, so Manchester United’s scouting of Alan Guimaraes has got tongues wagging here in the Transfer Tavern.

The Palmeiras ace netted a hat-trick for Brazil in the final of the 2017 U-17 South American Championship on the weekend, capping a fine tournament for the teenager, who ended it with most assists of any player present.

Sport Witness claim that Man United scouts were in attendance for competition and were impressed by the starlet, which seems to be the result of the club’s ramping up of their presence in the continent.

However, there are hairs in soup in terms of the Manchester heavyweights’ potential chase for the wonderkid, with Palmeiras keen to keep him and a release clause of €50m (£43.3m) being in place.

Below are the highlights of the 5-0 final battering of `Chile, in which Alan was in fine form.
