As the Manchester United fans in the Transfer Tavern eagerly await their EFL Cup quarter-final clash with West Ham later, they’ve been talking about the nature of their squad.
Having already spent huge amounts of money under Jose Mourinho, the Red Devils propping up the bar believe their playing ranks look unbalanced and bringing the best out of Paul Pogba is proving difficult.
One man who has appeared to do that this term is Michael Carrick, whose assured presence in holding midfield allows the powerful Frenchman to maraud.
They claim the club are yet to open talks with the pass master over a new deal, despite his current contract running out at the end of the season.
Mourinho has been vocal in his praise of the 35-year-old this term and even hinted the former England international would probably be at the Theatre of Dreams next season.
Still, no talks are said to have been set with the player’s representatives and the ex-Spurs and West Ham man would be free to talk to foreign parties in January.
Should United do all they can to keep Carrick? Let us know below..
