The mood of the Manchester United fans in the Transfer Tavern is reminiscent of the Louis van Gaal era after their derby day defeat.
Though things are undoubtedly looking up for the Red Devils, there’s no telling the United fans propping up the bar in the Tavern this evening.
One of the few bright spots of the game for the home support was Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s rasping volley to close the gap.
Having the superstar Swede around is enough to show the club’s progress since dear LVG departed, though the former Barcelona man is already hinting at passing the torch.
While the 34-year-old no doubt represents the short-term fix United are so desperate for, he has hinted at a look to the future.
Interestingly enough he actually got in the way to scupper Marcus Rashford’s goal, perhaps indicative of Mourinho’s attitude towards burgeoning young talent.
Still, according to Sky Sports, Ibrahimovic has backed the England man to take him over some day.
Though Rashford is yet to start for the club this season, he notched a stunning hat-trick on his England U21 debut, after his sensational campaign last season.
“We know his quality and what he’s able to do”, he said.
”What the world is seeing now, we already know because we see it every day.
“There is no need to rush to push him and put him in the heat zone and put a lot of pressure on him because that can have the opposite effect.
“Time by time, he will take over everything. It’s about having patience.”
How far can Rashford go in the game? Let us know below….
