Man United talks reportedly sought after with star keen on Mourinho discussion

Manchester United fans here in the Tavern are filled with excitement ahead of tonight’s Champions League clash, as the Red Devils look to bring all three points back to England.

The Red Devils are limbering up for the possibility of European glory this season, with Jose Mourinho expecting nothing less than victory in tonight’s encounter. Although, summer signing Victor Lindelof is unlikely to play any part in the outcome of their round of 16 tie, as his tentative start to life in Manchester has taken its toll on a possible future at the club. Indeed, with this in mind, according to reports in the Sun, the Manchester United defender wants to sit down with Jose Mourinho to seek reassurances over his future.

The Swedish international has not made a start in the Premier League since the New Year’s Day win against Everton, with only three cup opportunities being gifted to the defender since then. Indeed, after signing for a large sum of £31 million back in the summer, his performances at the beginning of the season have since caused for his days to be numbered in Manchester.

Of course, after sitting down with other players in the past to resolve any underlying issues, this shouldn’t be a problem for Mourinho. Although, the Red Devils chief does fear that the defender will see a minimal amount of time on the pitch from here on in until the end of the season.

And, an Old Trafford source had some words to share on Lindelof’s current feelings towards the situation:

“Victor wants to know which direction his early career is going here.

“He hasn’t played on a regular basis for a while. His camp is a bit bemused why he hasn’t been playing more.

“Everyone knows about the early struggles but he has come on a lot since then and has worked really hard.”

Landlord’s Verdict:

Victor Lindelof is yet to prove his worth in the red shirt of Manchester United, with his early season woes continuing to haunt his chances of a place in the side. Although, holding a meeting with Jose Mourinho is certainly a smart move from the Swede, with the likelihood being that he’ll be told to improve his performances to seek rewards within the side. But, the last thing that our local Mancunians here in the Tavern want is to see the back of the defender.
