Man United target informs club he wants to leave this summer

Manchester United fans in the Transfer Tavern have gathered to discuss an exciting piece of transfer gossip, which suggests another major transfer could be on the cards.

The Manchester Evening News cites reports indicating that reported Manchester United target Andre Gomes has informed Barcelona he wants to seal an exit from the club, following links of a deal for OGC Nice ace Jean Michel Seri.

Portuguese prodigy Andre Gomes joined Barcelona last summer after impressing during his nation’s win at the European Championships but he’s found it difficult to settle in Catalonia, seemingly lacking the talent the club is looking for.

Still just 24, there’s plenty of time for the former Valencia man to be crafted into a top-class player but Barcelona don’t seem keen on putting in the hard work, although there’s nothing concrete to suggest that Manchester United would have a different stance.

Multiple outlets have consistently linked Gomes with a move to Manchester United though and the Red Devils could make a move if the midfielder’s desire to move is genuine.

Landlord’s Verdict

Manchester United may well be interested in Andre Gomes but the fact of the matter is they’re not crying out for a recruit in midfield, especially since the signing of Nemanja Matic, and the first-team football they offer may not be any more than Barcelona can propose.

Barcelona would also command a hefty price for Gomes’ services too and Manchester United would probably not be willing to spend such a figure on a player who wouldn’t necessarily improve their starting line-up.
