Manchester United fans in the Transfer Tavern can’t quite believe what they’re hearing today, after some surprise comments from two established football pundits.
When discussing John Terry’s imminent exit from Chelsea on BBC Radio 5 Live, both Danny Mills and Charlie Adam believed that the veteran defender would be the ideal recruit for Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United.
Stoke midfielder Adam started the conversation by stating he’d push for Terry to reunite with Mourinho, whom he worked with in two successful spells at Chelsea.
“I’d say to him listen, come and play for a year,”
Ex-Manchester City and Leeds United defender Danny Mills then added:
“Even to have him on the training pitch, around the place, that experience [would be good for United]”.
Whilst it’s clear that Mourinho’s Manchester United defence needs improving, our landlord can’t see why moving for Terry would be a good move – and he doesn’t feel Terry would agree to a move to a direct rival either.
The punters from both sets of supporters in the bar agree and have labelled this piece of gossip as extremely unlikely to actually happen.
