Man United warded off stunning Spurs swoop as £35m deal edges closer

pochettino9It is utter delight for the Tottenham Hotspur fans enjoying their day off in the Transfer Tavern today, following reports from Football Insider that the club are pressing ahead with a £35m deal to keep a hold of manager Mauricio Pochettino.

The Argentine has hugely impressed in North London since his arrival from Southampton in 2014, leading Spurs to a shock title challenge this season with a vibrant young side.

Naturally, as a result, the ex-Espanyol coach has been linked with moves to both Manchester United and previously Chelsea after his continued good work in the Premier League despite a largely unheralded arrival as Nigel Adkins’ successor on the South Coast in 2013.

While the club’s London rivals recently secured Antonio Conte as their new boss, the Red Devils are still seemingly caught between Louis van Gaal and Jose Mourinho as things stand.

Real Madrid are also said to have cast a keen eye over his situation at White Hart Lane and could offer him a blockbuster move back to La Liga.

However, the White Hart Lane outfit are believed to be close to agreeing a five-year deal on improved terms with the 44-year old, understood to be worth around £35m.

Should Pochettino be Man United’s Number 1 target? Or would he be silly to leave Spurs at the present time?
