Man United would win their first league title in years with signing of £28.8m-rated attacker

Manchester United fans in the Transfer Tavern aren’t happy after finishing second in the Premier League table and expect the club to strengthen heavily in the summer window.

Jose Mourinho’s men finished 19 points behind their rivals Manchester City and were beaten at the weekend by Chelsea in the FA Cup final – failing to win a trophy for the first time as United manager. With City spending big last summer, United must do the same if they are to challenge for the title next season.

The Portuguese raided former club Chelsea last summer to bring Nemanja Matic to Old Trafford and could be set to return to Stamford Bridge again. According to reports, high on his summer wish list is Blues winger – Willian. The pair worked together at the club and could be set for a reunion.

Antonio Conte’s future at the club is not yet resolved and could have a considerable impact on the Brazilian’s future. He was dropped for the final against United and edited the Italian out of his Instagram picture of the celebrations. If Conte stays, Willian could leave.

Valued at £28.8m by Transfermarkt, the 29-year-old was voted as Chelsea player of the season and would be an immense signing for the Red Devils. He has created more chances and played more key passes than all of United’s attackers according to Squawka. His creative influence would no doubt help Romelu Lukaku next season.

Signing Willian would significantly improve Mourinho’s squad and also weaken a Premier League rival making it a no-brainer. Indeed, it could even win United the league, such is his ability to impress under Mourinho.
