Our Manchester United fans here in the Transfer Tavern are looking forward to what should be a hugely competitive season in the Premier League.
The men from Old Trafford are amongst the six sides that can realistically win the title this season and Jose Mourinho will be determined to prove the critics wrong once again but lifting the trophy in May.
Of course, there is a long way to go before that can happen and much work to do but it does appear that Mourinho is focusing partly on next year already – according to The Express at least.
Indeed, Mourinho is apparently keen on United signing Gareth Bale in the summer of 2018 with a whopping £90 million deal being mooted.
This, for sure, would get people talking and here in the bar the buzz from this is already palpable – though it is a long way off even if it does happen.
Indeed, Bale doesn’t seem that unhappy at Real Madrid at the moment and so something would need to change between now and next year for this one to have a real chance.
Bale is a world-class talent and would improve any side so it makes sense that club like United are interested in him – as reportedly they are.
However, even with their riches it would take a real turnaround to tempt a star who seems more than happy in the Spanish capital at the moment.
Things can change, of course, but at the moment this seems more fanciful than likely.
