Man Utd really shouldn’t be chasing this 28-year-old – here’s why

Our Manchester United fans here in the Transfer Tavern are looking forward to seeing who Jose Mourinho is going to sign for their club this summer.

The men from Old Trafford finished well off of the pace last season in terms of the title race and that, ultimately, is where their fans want to see the side improve for the new campaign.

Even so, that’s not going to come cheap and so fans should expect their club to spend big with The Independent saying that Ivan Perisic is one of United’s target.

Apparently, though, his club – Inter Milan – want £50m before letting him go and even if United pay slightly less for that we still don’t think they should bother.

Indeed, Perisic is a decent player but he is not the star that United need to transform their attacking play.

Whilst a good winger, the Old Trafford side needs to be focusing its attention on a main striker with Zlatan Ibrahimovic out of the door after his knee injury.

Indeed, United already have the likes of Anthony Martial – who will surely turn out to be a better left sided forward – Henrikh Mkhitaryan – who can play anywhere behind the main striker – and Juan Mata who offers far more guile than the direct Croat.

So, unless United can shave about half off of the asking price for the winger, it’s time they shelved this idea and moved on to getting players that prove far better value for money.
