Manchester United fans in the Transfer Tavern are largely impressed with their first campaign under Jose Mourinho, although they’ve made it clear they expect big business this summer.
Whilst the Red Devils continue to be linked to a wealth of top-class attacking recruits, the more sensible fans at the bar are discussing possible improvements to the defence- and one name has occupied their discussions this morning.
French outlet L’Equipe reports via Ivorian outlet Sportmania that Manchester United have held talks with Paris Saint-Germain full-back Serge Aurier regarding a summer switch and the Ivorian is believed to be keen on a move to the Red Devils.
Aurier sees his current deal in the French capital expire in 2019 and, whilst PSG are keen to extend that contract, the future of the 23-year-old right-back remains shrouded in speculation- and United could swoop.
Mourinho is keen to bolster his full-back options at the club this summer, particularly on the right, and Aurier could be the perfect candidate to compete with Antonio Valencia for a first-team spot and replace Matteo Darmian in the squad.
However, our landlord has warned Manchester United fans that Aurier doesn’t have the best of reputations off the field and has reminded them he was refused entry to England last year ahead of PSG’s Champions League clash with Arsenal.
Would Aurier be a good signing for Manchester United? Let us know in the comments below!
