Manchester United: Andreas Pereira slammed by supporters after 2-0 Burnley loss

Manchester United: Andreas Pereira slammed by supporters after 2-0 Burnley loss - Manchester United

After Manchester United were on the receiving end of a 2-0 loss at home to Burnley on Wednesday evening, many supporters lashed out at midfielder Andreas Pereira following his arguably dismal display at Old Trafford – with a lot of them ecstatic over when it was time for the academy graduate to come off.

The Red Devils fell at home to Sean Dyche’s men courtesy of strikes from Chris Wood and Jay Rodriguez in either half, with the latter being a sublime finish at the near post over the helpless David De Gea. However, given Pereira’s seeming lack of potency going forward, the Brazilian has taken a lot of the flack since being substituted for Mason Greenwood during the contest.

According to WhoScored.com, the 24-year-old completed just 79% of his passes from the wing whilst also failing to score any of his four shots on goal. Indeed, player ratings from the Mirror also cited the fact he was sloppy in possession and gave the ball away far too much, perhaps prompting manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to take him off.

As a result, many supporters leapt to criticise Pereira, with one saying he makes former midfield man Kleberson look like a ‘bargain’. The fellow Brazilian, who signed for the Red Devils in a £6 million deal back in 2003, was sold to Besiktas just two seasons after making 30 appearances in all competitions (Transfermarkt) – debatably flopping in the Premier League. Here’s how United fans slammed their academy star on Twitter.
