According to a report by the BBC, Manchester United have all but completed the signing of Bruno Fernandes after finally agreeing a fee with Sporting Lisbon for the player – said to be around £47 million rising to £67.6 million with add-ons.
The club also issued a statement confirming that the two clubs have reached an agreement, with Fernandes arriving in Manchester for a medical and to agree personal terms. Photos from Sky Italy via Sky Sports, which emerged late on Wednesday evening, have also confirmed that the Portuguese playmaker has landed in the North West. United have been linked with a move for the player since last summer (Daily Express), meaning the six-month long transfer saga has finally reached its conclusion.
The 25-year-old, who has scored an impressive 15 goals and assisted 14 others for Sporting (Transfermarkt) during the first half of the season, could be seen as a viable creative force – especially taking into account his statistical superiority over current attacking midfielder Jesse Lingard. In comparison to the Englishman, Fernandes has blown his numbers out the water – averaging a superior amount of key passes (3.7), shots (3.5) and dribbles per game (1.8), as per WhoScored.com.
As a result, these Man United supporters are ecstatic to have finally clinched a deal – find all of their best comments from Twitter down below.
